The most active black holes eat so voraciously that they create a colossal cloud of gas and dust around them, through which astronomers cannot peer. That sometimes prevents observations of the region nearest the black hole, making it impossible to verify what’s actually there.

These hyperactive black holes are called quasars. They can consume the mass of a thousand stars a year and are thought to be precursers to large, normal galaxies. The exist primarily at great distances, seen as they existed when the universe was young.

Portable SMTP application for Win32. Slap this tiny little app on your USB thumb drive or similar device and mail from anywhere.

V-Mailer is 32-bit command-line and batch mailer and supports SMTP authentication. It is a console application, which means that it can only be run from the DOS prompt or from inside a batch file. It will send a message to any single email address. Users of V-Scheduler, VAMP and EyeOnSite may find it particularly useful for sending messages from within these applications.

Usage: VMAILER.EXE FileName SmtpServer To From User Password

where:
FileName = name of text file containing the message
SmtpServer = server name or IP address e.g. smtp.domain.com
To = recipient’s address e.g. him@domain.com
From = sender’s address e.g. me@domain.com
User = (optional) user name if authentication reqd.

Have you ever needed to turn off the Internet, but found that you lack the willpower? Yeah, me too. Well thanks to this little piece of freeware that problem is solved, now if I could just find a device that sent a shock everytime I stopped typing I would be fine.

I’m in front of my computer constantly and a program I’ve been wanting for a long time is one that would allow me to block certain programs from myself for a set amount of time. A way for the smart part of me to head off the dumb, impulsive lizard part, and a way for me to get more stuff done at the computer.

I could never find one, so I decided to just have one made for me. It worked so well and I liked it so much that I was thinking about making it a WebJillion product. But, I decided I didn’t really want to mess with the updates, support and general mess that comes with desktop software. So, instead, I’m giving it away for free.
