Imagine my surprise when I see what I think is a Moleskine in one of my favorite movies of all time.

Since I first saw a Moleskine notebook on the Idea web site about three years ago, I have been using them to keep notes, but it wasn’t until I found Moleskinerie.com that I learned what fun the little darlings can be.

GTD with Hipskine

October 15, 2005
When you begin to use GTD you will find it enables you to improve your organization skills. To stop there would be a slight, it is more about changing your reliance on your brain and others (Those folk who have the nerve to ask where something you are working on is) to remember things and when they are do. The GTD system gives you what you need to allow yourself to place your faith in an alternate system to do that for you. Thereby lowering the stress you are under when you feel that nagging sensation “Am I forgetting something?”. For me, GTD is not the first organization methodology I have attempted to use, and I hope to report that after a month I am an old pro and I fell wonderful about my method of doing it. Hipskine is the methodology I have implemented joining the Tactile feedback pleasures of a Molskine (http://www.moleskineus.com/moleskine-about.html) planner/journal (http://www.moleskineus.com/diary.html) and the efficient tracking of my next actions in a GTD fashion with Tracks a ruby on rails developed system. All in a device that requires no power, can accept a variety of Writing implements, (A big plus for me since I enjoy collecting pens and pencils way to much) and is small enough to fit in a pocket or purse. You can carry it anywhere.

Bubble Map ToDo List from Idea Idea

October 10, 2005

“I have checked off many ToDos… but I just do not feel like i’ve accomplished a lot…”.

This often happens to me (and you?), so I looked into the problem deeply. Then I realized that a ToDo “list” does not represent the importance of each item. Yes, you can “A, B, C” the list, but your brain just does not catch how important each item is. In my opinion, it’s just counter-intuitive.

So a few weeks ago, i began “drawing” my ToDo list. Each bubble represents a ToDo and the bigger the more troublesome it is to your mind. I named this map, “bubble map”. My bubble map yesterday is something like below (click to enlarge).

Moleskine Credit Card Advert Ice Scraper Ad Infinitum Hack

I don’t know about you, but I get more junk mail than bills; so much that I used to get all weepy with excitement when the cable bill came. But no more! Not since I discovered the bounty that is credit card advertisement; you know those little fake plastic credit cards you get in the mail that say YOUR BUSINESS NAME HERE. There are tons of uses for these little things (ice scraper, batter bowl scraper, etc…) and they fit nicely in your moleskine.

I use them for bookmarkers, ice scrapers, straight edges. I even melted one into a bowl shape for use as a paperclip holder.

A few days ago someone created a storyboard template for the large Moleskine sketchbooks, but left the poor little pocket size notebook out in the cold. But I have been using these free plastic credit cards as storyboard templates for a year or more. They fit perfectly on the page of your pocket size Moleskine, but they aren’t tied to it; you can use them anywhere.

買了MOLESKINE Memo Pocket
結帳時看到這個Pen Holder

A detective and his Moleskine.

April 30, 2005

I didn’t really need a reason to watch Jean Reno movies but the off chance that I might spot Moleskine just makes a night of watching great movies that much better.

This isn’t the only time I’ve spotted Moleskines on film; the is a Columbo episode co-starring Johnny Cash where an NTSB investigator uses one. If anybody has screencaps of that let me know.

Two French policemen, one investigating a grisly murder at a remote mountain college, the other working on the desecration of a young girl’s grave by skinheads, are brought together by the clues from their respective cases. Soon after they start working together, more murders are committed, and the pair begin to discover just what dark secrets are behind the killings. IMDB.com

I should make one minor correction. I made a mistake when posting the link to the IMDB.com entry.

Les Rivières pourpres II - Les anges de l’apocalypse(Crimson Rivers - Angels of the Apocolyps) is the second movie of the series, and that is where the moleskine sighting comes from.

What I am is a big fan of tiny improvements. And cool tricks. And time savers. So, whenever I find a neat little bauble or a sexy new hack, I’ve tended to barrage my unsuspecting friends and email-list associates with lengthy, structured “Too Much Information!”(TMI) breakdowns and tutorials. (Sorry, guys.) Well, no more–I promise.

Moleskinerie

This is Moleskinerie, a blog dedicated to the proposition that not all notebooks are created equal. Its impeccable provenance notwithstanding this site will talk more about the places and adventures, life’s little dramas and other forgettable events that otherwise would have been lost were it not scrawled between the pages of these little black books.

Moleskine Art

From my experience, there is a combination of things that enables me to produce drawings I like: mindfulness, peacely explore previous mental state, free to start drawing but concentrate on the flow. I always amaze myself and feel tremendous satisfaction after a nice drawing is produced. Explore and click on any interesting objects! I hope you’ll have a pleasant journey.

Moleskine Notebooks are oilcloth-covered1 notebooks, manufactured by Modo and Modo of Italy, based on a design by a small stationer in Tours, France. The standard Moleskine Notebook measures 9 x 14cm and features the following: lightweight, acid-free paper, a foldable pocket in the back cover, a cloth ribbon attached to the spine to serve as a bookmark, and a woven elastic band attached to the back to keep the book closed when not in use. The name (officially pronounced mol-a-skeen-a, although it can vary) comes from the French spelling of ‘moleskin’, which the oilcloth covering resembles, and is a trademark of Modo and Modo.
