While poking around in the beta version of Yahoo’s new Podcast search engine, I tripped over Ken Carrol’s ChinesePod podcast in which he, his partner Jenny Zhu, and their ultra-soothing voices take you on a no nonsense trip down the rabbit hole that is Mandarin Chinese. Weekly listening to this truely innovative podcast will have you saying nee-how-ma at the drop of a hat.

Be sure and check out the free trial of their premium service which includes a PDF transcript, and review questions of each lesson.

ChinesePod is an online tool to help you study Chinese. Listen to free daily podcasts on your media device (phone, mp3 player, pda, computer). Then, if you want, pay for premium features to help reinforce what you heard.

There is no need for inconveniently scheduled and inconveniently located classroom lessons. Learn Chinese when are where is most convenient for you.

Escape Pod your Sci-Fi Fix since, sometime last week.

    August 2, 2005

Everytime I turn around I am adding a new category to my little blog. This week, after much tinkering (I am not an early adopter) I have added a podcast category. The reason I have added podcasting to my list of likes is Escape Pod, a great site for those of us who missed out on the whole radio drama thing back in the golden age of radio.

While Escape Pod doesn’t exactly qualify as radio drama I have gotten addicted to it and several other podcast because they are authentic in their love of their chosen subject. Stephen Eley, who you may remember as the author of the Invisible Pink Unicorn Manifesto, is a dedicated Sci-Fi and Fantasy enthusiast and the proof is in the podding.

Slide on over and catch the latest from the good folks at Escape Pod.
